What you need

• iPhone and iPad: iOS / iPadOS 16.4 or later. That is iPhone 8, iPhone X, iPhone SE (2nd generation) and every newer iPhone; iPad (5th generation), iPad mini (5th generation), iPad Air (3rd generation), every iPad Pro and every newer iPad. iOS updates are free in Settings > General > Software Update.
• Android phones and tablets: Android 7.0 or later (Android 9 or later recommended). For scanning, keep Android System WebView and Chrome up to date in the Play Store.
• Scanning works best on a recent phone or tablet with plenty of memory; on older devices a big tray takes longer.
• On a computer: Brick Studio, the 3D Set Library and the Minifigure Maker run on brickfinderapp.com in a current desktop browser on Windows or Mac.

Scanning bricks: good, better, best

• Best: the Brick Finder calibration sheet. Print it at home (Letter, Legal, 11 x 17, 12 x 17, 12 x 18, A4, A3 or A2) and spread your pieces on it. The sheet lets the app measure every piece to the millimetre.
• Better: a flat, smooth, plain surface with soft, even light and as few shadows as possible.
• Good: any surface, such as a tray, a lid or a table. Brick Finder still finds and identifies your pieces; sizes are a little less exact.

Then take five photos or one short video:

• Spread pieces in a single layer, not stacked.
• Take the overhead photo first, then the angled photos the app asks for, without moving any pieces. Or record one slow, steady video of up to 12 seconds around the pieces; the app picks the best views from it.
• Keep all the pieces in the frame.
• Check the results on the review screen; your corrections help Brick Finder improve.

Using the website tools

Explore the 3D Set Library, start a build, design a minifigure, visit the Display Room or open Mosaic Maker. Mosaic Maker turns a photo into a flat brick mosaic in your browser. Use Display for unrestricted colours or Buildable for catalogue-listed piece and colour combinations, then save the picture, parts list or printable sheet. Video export depends on browser support. Check your browser downloads if a file does not open automatically.

Subscriptions and purchases

• Purchases in the app are made through the Apple App Store or Google Play.
• To cancel or manage a subscription, use your Apple ID subscription settings or the Google Play Store. Deleting your Brick Finder account does not cancel an App Store or Google Play subscription.
• Refunds for App Store and Google Play purchases are handled by Apple or Google.
